Planning a route

A classic first half-day runs Monument Island, Star Island and Brickell Bay for the skyline and a calm anchorage; for swimming, swap in Haulover or Nixon depending on the dock. Bridge openings, water depth, wind and tides shape what is possible, and the size of the yacht matters in shallow water, so the captain keeps alternatives ready. Dolphins and manatees are often seen around Virginia Key and the quieter bay, never guaranteed. Respect the no-wake zones and private docks, and take everything you bring back to the boat.
