Half day or full day

  • Four hours: one main sandbar or island stop, plus the cruise out and back.
  • Five to six hours: the sandbar, sightseeing, food and an unhurried pace.
  • Eight hours: a long sandbar session, several stops and flexible timing.

Start late morning for full sun, midday for the most sandbar time, or mid-afternoon to roll into the sunset. Shorter blocks are on hourly yacht rentals in Miami, and every other length on Miami yacht charters.

Day routes

The best days mix time at anchor with time moving: straight to the Haulover or Nixon sandbar with floats and music; an island loop past Star, Palm, Hibiscus and Fisher Island; the skyline from the bay; a quiet cove when the wind is up. The places are described on Miami yacht destinations. Swimming is in daylight, with the captain on watch and the conditions safe.

What to bring

Sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, towels, swimwear and a change of clothes, and any medicines. Guests 21 and over may bring drinks; food is BYO or catered. Most boats are barefoot or soft-soled shoes only, and glitter and confetti stay off the deck. Every charter includes the captain, crew, fuel, a water mat, ice, water and Bluetooth sound. Each card shows the whole charter, boat, crew and fuel, for the hours shown. The crew and fuel are paid online to book and the boat balance at the dock by cash or Zelle; Klarna, Affirm and PayPal Pay Later are open on eligible charters, as set out on payment and financing options. For a Saturday in season, book three to six weeks ahead.

Questions

Day yacht questions

How many hours is a day yacht rental?
Four to eight. Five to six hours is the most popular, with time for the sandbar, photos and lunch.
How many people can come on a day yacht?
Up to 13 on a private yacht, children included; more than that books an inspected vessel or two yachts.
Can we stop at a sandbar and swim?
Yes, in daylight and safe conditions. Most boats carry a water mat; paddleboards or a jet ski can be added.
Can we bring kids?
Yes. Every child counts toward the guest limit; tell the team their ages so the boat has the right life jackets.
What happens if the weather turns?
Light rain rarely stops a charter. In unsafe weather the start is delayed, the route changed or the date moved.
How much does it cost to rent a yacht for a day in Miami?
A full day of eight hours starts at about $2,200 on a boat under 40 ft, about $2,800 on 40 to 54 ft, about $3,000 on 55 to 79 ft and about $4,600 on 80 ft and up; a half day of four hours from about $1,150, $1,400, $1,500 and $2,600. Captain, crew and fuel are included and the card shows each boat’s exact price.
Is a day rental cheaper per hour than a short charter?
Usually, yes. The eight-hour block on most boats costs less per hour than two or three hours, because the crew and the fuel for the run out are shared over more time; the free-hour boats give five hours for the four-hour price.
Where does a day on a yacht in Miami go?
Most days are the Haulover or Nixon sandbar, Monument Island or the Marine Stadium basin for swimming, Star Island and the skyline on the way, and Key Biscayne, Stiltsville or Biscayne National Park on a full day. The captain sets the order to the tide and the wind.
