When to leave

Sunset in Miami falls around 5:30 to 6:00 pm in winter and 7:45 to 8:15 pm in summer. Board 60 to 90 minutes before it: that gives you the cruise out, golden hour, the sun going down and the first hour of lights on the way back, which is why three to four hours is the favourite length. Two hours works for photos and a toast. November to April brings earlier sunsets and cooler evenings; summer gives later light and warm water, so a longer charter can swim first and cruise after. Partial cloud usually means better colour. Other charters, by length and time of day, are on Miami yacht charters.

Sunset routes

  • Island loop: Star, Palm, Hibiscus and Fisher Island as the light softens.
  • Skyline pass: Downtown and Brickell framed from the bay at golden hour.
  • Causeways: the MacArthur and Venetian bridges for the classic Miami sunset shot.

Romantic, party or family

A sunset can be a proposal on the bow with calm music, a birthday toast before dinner, a pre-game with the sound up before the clubs, or a family cruise with shade for the grandparents. Proposals are planned on yacht proposals in Miami. Bring a light layer for the breeze, soft-soled shoes or bare feet, and sunscreen and sunglasses for the first hour.

Price and booking

Each card shows the whole charter, boat, crew and fuel, for the hours shown. The crew and fuel are paid online to book and the boat balance at the dock by cash or Zelle; Klarna, Affirm and PayPal Pay Later are open on eligible charters, as set out on payment and financing options. Friday and Saturday sunsets book first: plan three to six weeks ahead for a weekend or holiday, one to two weeks for a weekday, and Sunday to Thursday is calmer and often better value.

Questions

Sunset yacht questions

What time should a sunset yacht leave in Miami?
Sixty to ninety minutes before sunset, so you catch golden hour, the sunset and the first city lights.
How long should a sunset charter be?
Three to four hours for most groups; two hours for photos and a toast.
What if the sunset is cloudy?
Light cloud often makes the colours better. If the weather is unsafe the charter is delayed, rerouted or moved to another date.
Is the sunset cruise private?
Yes. The yacht, captain and crew are reserved for your group alone.
How far ahead should we book?
Three to six weeks for a weekend or holiday sunset; one to two weeks for a weekday.
How much is a sunset cruise in Miami on a private yacht?
From about $825 for two hours and $850 for three on a boat under 40 ft, about $1,050 for three hours on a 40 to 54 ft yacht for the full 13, captain, crew and fuel included. Weekend sunsets cost more than weekday ones; each card shows its figure.
Is this a shared sunset cruise or a private one?
Private. Every sunset charter here is your group alone with the boat’s captain and crew; the ticketed sunset cruises on the bay are a different product.
Can we have dinner on the sunset cruise?
Yes. Bring your own food, order platters or sushi from the catering menu to be handed to the crew at boarding, or add a private chef on a yacht with a galley; a bartender can run the drinks.
