Water Skiing in Miami

Water skiing in Miami is done behind a tow boat with a driver and a spotter, on calm water in the bay, with combo skis for beginners and a single slalom ski for confident skiers. The session is booked on its own or alongside a yacht charter, with the skis, ropes and life jackets included, and quoted for your skiers and timing.

How a ski session works

Water skiing runs from a tow boat built for it, not from a cruising yacht. The boat meets you at its marina, or joins your day where the plan allows; the driver briefs the group, fits the skis and life jackets and finds flat water. Skiers take turns while the others ride along. The team books it with your charter. The other activities are on Miami water sports.

Learning to ski

Beginners use two combo skis, knees bent and arms straight, and the driver pulls slowly until they stand; most are up within a few attempts. Confident skiers drop a ski and move to slalom. Children can learn with child-size skis and a life jacket that fits.

Rules for towing

Every skier wears a life jacket, a spotter rides aboard besides the driver, and Florida does not allow towing from 90 minutes after sunset until sunrise. The driver keeps clear of swimmers, channels and slow-speed zones, and stops for wind or boat traffic.

Sessions and price

Sessions are sold by the hour, with the driver, the spotter and the equipment, and quoted for your date and group. Mornings give the flattest water. For a board instead of skis, see wakeboarding in Miami.

Skiing and a yacht day

Ski first, then board the yacht for the sandbar and lunch; choose the length of the charter on Miami yacht charters.

What to send

The date and the time of day you prefer, the number of skiers with their ages and levels, how many will ride along without skiing, and the yacht charter it should fit around. The team returns the tow boat, the meeting marina and the quote, and moves the session if the wind is up.
