Scuba Diving by Private Boat in Miami
Scuba diving by private boat in Miami is a reef or wreck dive run by a licensed dive operator, with a divemaster, tanks and weights, arranged around your yacht charter. Certified divers bring their card; non-divers snorkel or stay aboard. The team books the operator and the yacht together, so the dive plan and the boat fit the same day.
How a private dive works
A dive is a licensed activity, not part of a yacht’s equipment: the dive operator supplies the divemaster, the tanks, the weights and the dive plan, checks every certification and gives the briefing. Depending on the site and the group, divers go out on the operator’s dive boat and meet the yacht afterwards, or the operator joins a yacht suited to diving. The team arranges both and confirms the plan before you pay. The other activities are on Miami water sports.
Who can dive
Certified divers bring their certification card and logbook, and the operator matches the site to the least experienced diver. Guests who have never dived can ask the operator about an introductory dive with an instructor in shallow water. Everyone else snorkels at a shallower stop or stays aboard; see snorkeling from a yacht.
Reefs and wrecks off Miami
Miami-Dade has natural reefs a short run offshore and a long programme of artificial reefs and sunken wrecks, at depths for beginners and for advanced divers. Visibility and current change with the season and the wind, so the operator chooses the site on the day.
Safety rules
A divers-down flag flies whenever divers are in the water, and boats must keep clear of it. Divers follow the operator’s plan and buddy system, and plan at least 12 to 18 hours between the last dive and a flight. If the sea is too rough, the operator moves the dive.
What to send
The date, the number of divers and their certification levels, any gear they bring, and the number of non-divers. Ask the team through contact Feeling Yachty and they return the operator’s plan and a quote with the charter.
