Where the big yachts go
Out the inlet rather than up the Intracoastal: the ocean side along Fort Lauderdale Beach, north to Hillsboro, and on a multi-day charter the 50 nautical miles to Bimini when the weather window opens.
Crew, chef and service
A captain and a mate on every yacht of this size, a stewardess and a chef as add-ons, provisioning to your list. The discreet version is on VIP yacht charters.
What makes a yacht a luxury yacht here
Length is the shorthand but not the point. At 55 ft a yacht has a saloon with air conditioning, two or three cabins with their own heads, a galley a chef can work in, a flybridge for the view and a crew of two, so thirteen guests have three decks between them instead of one. Below that length the boats are day boats; above 80 ft they add a stewardess and a tender.
Day, weekend and week
These are the yachts that charter by the day and the week: cabins for the night and range for the Bahamas, on weekly yacht charters. The rest of the occasions are on Fort Lauderdale yacht events.
