What is allowed
Cake, balloons, banners, flowers and a table setting. Confetti, glitter and candles that blow out in the wind are not.
Chef and catering add-ons
Trays, a sushi platter or a private chef cooking on board, chosen when you book.
Kids’ birthdays on the water
The Intracoastal is flat water, so the small ones are fine. Florida law puts a life jacket on every child under six on a boat under 26 ft and the crew carries children’s sizes on every boat. Two or three hours is plenty; the family yacht rentals page has the rest.
Milestone birthdays: 30th, 40th, 50th
Book the bigger boat and the sunset slot: a 55 ft yacht for thirteen with dinner from the caterer and the skyline lights coming on over Las Olas. Fifty guests take an event yacht, on group yacht excursions.
Best route for a birthday
Down the Isles, anchor at Lake Sylvia for the swim and the cake, back past the mansions as the sun drops. Three hours does it; four adds the beach.
