San Blas Islands Yacht & Catamaran Charters — Guna Yala, Panama
San Blas is Panama’s Caribbean archipelago of 365 Guna Yala islands, reached from Panama City by a three-hour 4x4 drive to the Cartí docks and a short boat transfer. It is an overnight destination: private catamaran charters of one to three nights sleep aboard between cays like Chichime, Holandés and Coco Bandero, with the Guna community fee paid on entry.
How to get to San Blas from Panama City
By road to Cartí
A 4x4 leaves Panama City around 5 am and reaches the Cartí docks in about three hours over the Guna Yala road; the Guna entry fee is paid at the gate.
By air
Small planes fly to Playón Chico and Achutupu; the catamaran meets you at the strip.
Transfers we arrange
The 4x4, the gate fee and the launch to the boat are booked together with the charter, like every other Panama trip on Panama yacht rentals.
San Blas as a day trip vs an overnight
A day trip is six hours of driving for three on the water. A one-night charter gives you a sunset, a night under the stars and a morning swim; most groups take two. A tour sells a seat; a charter gives you the boat, and the Panama catamarans are what you charter.
Life on a San Blas catamaran
Cabins for two, a cook aboard, snorkelling off the stern and a Guna island for dinner. WiFi is rare and the signal patchy; the air conditioning runs when the generator does; every cat has a head and the Fountaine Pajots one per cabin; meals are cooked aboard from what the Guna sell off their canoes. The guides in the Panama yacht tips answer each of those in full.
San Blas charter prices
Priced per night by catamaran size and guest count, quoted with the transfers and the Guna fee, so the figure you see is the trip. A three-day plan is the usual shape: Chichime the first night, the Cayos Holandeses the second, back through the Lemon Cays on the third.
Best months for San Blas
December to April, with the trade winds and the clearest water; the green season is quieter and cheaper. Prices by season are on Panama yacht charter prices.
